Today we coded a Hangman Game from start to finish!

We started off the New Year with our first Intermediate Python Workshop! Our beginner group has built a solid foundation and are ready to continue building with intermediate Python programming. We started off with a review and coded a program, the Silly Mad Libs Story Generator. Our learning objectives achieved were: ☐ Use input()  to get words from the user ☐ Store information in variables ☐ Use print()  to tell a story ☐ Run my code in Python Sandbox

Young Makers Academy held 9 successful coding workshops to students ages 9-16 from March 2025 to December 2025. In 2026, we hope to expand to 5 more library branches and offer not only Beginner Python workshops but also Intermediate Python workshops to continue learning and building with code. We completed our beginner Python workshop series that met from Sept-Dec 2025 and the students received certificates of completion. We learned a lot during these 4 months and the students are eager to advance their skills in 2026. Thank you Anaheim Library for providing us with a pizza party to celebrate the end of the season. Looking forward to new workshops in 2026!

Young Makers Academy grew from a balloon twisting event at the 2024 OC Maker Faire where our founder, Jonathan, was asked by the Anaheim Public Library to host a balloon twisting workshop. After the balloon workshop, Jonathan was asked to teach a robotics coding class and these classes led to a couple of students inquiring about more in-depth coding resources.
